BabyLog
Privacy Policy
This policy covers the BabyLog app for iOS and Android, made by TomOi. It explains what the app does with your data.
In short
- No account and no ads.
- Your baby’s data stays on your phone. We cannot see it.
- We only receive anonymous crash reports, anonymous usage counts and messages you choose to send us.
What you enter and where it is stored
BabyLog stores your baby’s profile (name, gender and birth date, all optional), the activities you log, measurements, notes and your settings. All of this is saved on your phone only. There is no account and no BabyLog server that stores this data.
Your phone’s own backup, such as iCloud, Finder or Google Auto Backup, may include BabyLog’s data. That backup is managed by your phone’s system and your Apple or Google account. BabyLog does not send it anywhere.
The data on your phone is not encrypted by the app. It relies on your phone’s protection, so please use a screen lock. Anyone who can unlock your phone can open BabyLog.
Data we receive automatically
BabyLog sends two kinds of anonymous data. They are always on, and there is no switch for them in the app. If you would rather not send them, the only way is not to use the app.
- Crash reports (Sentry). When the app hits an error, it sends the type of error, technical details about the problem, the app version, and basic device and system information such as model and OS version. It never includes your baby’s data. The service is run by Functional Software, Inc., with servers in the United States.
- Usage counts (PostHog). The app counts actions such as “a feed was logged” or “an export was started”, together with fixed details like which activity it was. It does not send your baby’s name, birth date or age, the times, amounts or notes you log, or your measurements. A random ID created on your phone groups the counts from one device. It is not linked to your name or email, and it disappears when you uninstall the app. The service is run by PostHog Inc., with servers in the United States.
We use this data to fix bugs and to see which features are used, so that we can improve the app. These services also receive your IP address as part of any internet request.
Data you choose to send
- Feedback. If you send feedback from Settings, we receive your message, the type (suggestion or bug), the contact detail if you add one, and your device’s platform, OS version and model. Please do not put sensitive details about your baby in the message, because you can type anything into that box.
- CSV export. When you export your logs and measurements, the files go to the place you pick in the share sheet, such as Mail or a cloud drive. From there, that service’s own policy applies. The baby’s profile is not included in the files.
- Fonts. On first launch the app downloads its font from Google Fonts, which means Google sees the request and your IP address and device user agent. The font is then stored on your phone.
Other services
When you open a link or rate the app, the web browser or the App Store or Google Play handles that, under its own policy. The services that process data for BabyLog are Sentry, PostHog, Google Fonts, the Apple App Store and Google Play.
What we do not do
- No selling your data.
- No advertising and no advertising SDKs, and no advertising identifiers.
- No tracking across other apps or sites.
- No accounts, and no profiles built about you.
- No using your data to train AI.
- No access to your location, camera, photos, microphone or contacts.
Children
BabyLog is for adults who care for a child. It is not meant to be used by children, and we do not knowingly collect data from them. The information about your child is entered by you and stays on your phone.
How long we keep data
- On your phone: until you delete it in the app or uninstall BabyLog.
- Crash reports and usage counts: kept for a limited time by the services above.
- Feedback: kept as long as needed to read and answer it.
Security
Data sent to us travels over HTTPS. Data on your phone relies on your phone’s security.
Your choices and rights
You can view, edit and delete your logs and measurements in the app, export them as CSV, and use Settings > Delete all data to erase your baby’s profile, logs and measurements. Uninstalling the app removes everything stored on that phone.
Anonymous crash and usage data cannot be traced back to you, so we cannot look up or delete data for a particular person. For anything else, or to ask us to delete your feedback, email contact@tomoi.app. Depending on where you live, laws such as GDPR may give you further rights.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date at the top.
